Republican People's Party confronts internal dismissals and judicial challenges

Republican People's Party (CHP) leaders denounced recent legal actions as a "judicial coup" and warned of a deepening internal crisis. CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel, speaking in Kırıkkale, condemned the delayed filing of a case to the Supreme Court of Appeals, accusing the government of manipulating the judiciary. He pledged that the party would either regain its status or forge a new path, stating, "We have made all preparations; either we will get our party back or we will open a new road."

Party officials Talat Yalaz and regional leaders Yücel Balkanlı and Volkan Akgüngör protested the removal of provincial and district chairpersons, describing the dismissals as politically motivated moves to stifle opposition. Yalaz criticized the inability to appoint a new Eskişehir provincial chairman, calling it an "embarrassment" and alleging that the aim is to block CHP’s rise to power.

In Erzenky, the party’s district office faced a nighttime crisis when the building’s CHP signage was taken down after the former district head was dismissed, prompting accusations of vandalism and calls for dialogue. Meanwhile, CHP İzmir delegate Çağatay Güç told retirees and youth that the upcoming election will end the ruling party’s “despair” and restore hope.

Collectively, the statements highlight escalating tensions between CHP and the ruling authorities, with concerns over legal pressure, internal governance, and the party’s strategy ahead of future elections.
