CHP Istanbul headquarters vandalised as party officials promise cooperation

Gürsel Tekin, the Istanbul provincial chair of Turkey's Republican People's Party (CHP), reported extensive damage to the party's Istanbul headquarters. He said doors were broken, tables smashed, the kitchen dismantled, office documents removed and portraits of former party leaders shattered. Tekin described the incident as a serious material loss, noting that the assets are state‑allocated funds, and that the building’s security cameras had been switched off.

He announced that Özgür Özel had been elected group deputy chairman and will work alongside party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, stating that the suggested cooperation was the "table Turkey expected." Tekin pledged to pursue those responsible, filing the necessary complaints, and emphasized the party's aim to keep the CHP out of disputes in the judiciary corridor. He expressed hope that Kılıçdaroğlu will continue his duties and that the party can return to its core agenda.
