CHP protests intensify in Turkey's Kuşadası and Trabzon

In Kuşadası, the CHP district leadership led by Mehmet Gürbilek has maintained an "İrade nöbeti" (will‑power vigil) inside the district party building after the removal of Aydın provincial chairman Hikmet Saatçı and other officials. The protestors refuse to hand over the building, describing their sit‑in as a defense of democracy and the will of party members.

In Trabzon, the municipal council is embroiled in a dispute after AKP deputy Faruk Kanca used language that CHP members deemed offensive toward fellow councilor Alper Öztürk. The CHP group announced it will not attend council sessions until Kanca apologises, putting pressure on mayor Ahmet Metin Genç to intervene before the council recess. The standoff threatens to halt council work if unresolved.
