CHP officials rebuke Mustafa Balbay over party closure comments

Political figures and officials within the Republican People's Party (CHP) have issued strong rebukes against Mustafa Balbay following his recent comments regarding the potential closure of the party. Balbay suggested that if the CHP were to be closed, a new consensus would emerge and individuals would find new political paths.

Atila Sertel, Honorary President of the Izmir Journalists Association and former CHP MP, criticized Balbay for his lack of loyalty, reminding him that the party provided him with his parliamentary seat and support during his imprisonment. Sertel described the remarks as a profound lack of gratitude toward the party's history and its millions of voters.

Similarly, Hakan Satılmış, the CHP Malatya Provincial Chairman, condemned the statements, asserting that the party is not a personal asset to be discussed lightly. Satılmış emphasized that the CHP is built on the legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the Kuvayi Milliye, stating that no individual has the authority to contemplate its closure.
