CHP sees 891,000 resignations amid YENİ Parti growth
Following a court decision regarding 'absolute nullity' (mutlak butlan) that led to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu returning to the leadership of the CHP, approximately 891,078 members have resigned from the party since May 21.
In response to these political shifts, the YENİ Parti held its first Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting at its newly opened headquarters, led by Chairman Özgür Özel. Party officials reported that the YENİ Parti has reached 600,000 members, of whom 400,000 are former CHP members. Additionally, one-third of their current membership consists of individuals who had no prior affiliation with any political party.
Party officials noted that while many former CHP members have not yet officially joined YENİ Parti, they believe this is due to the CHP’s reliance on manual rather than online registration processes. The YENİ Parti aims to reach 1 million members by its founding congress in mid-November.
