Brisbane Lions face coaching and roster shifts after premiership three-peat

Following the Brisbane Lions' Grand Final victory over Fremantle to secure a premiership three-peat, the club faces significant leadership and roster changes.

Coach Chris Fagan, who has led the team for 10 seasons, is currently weighing his future. While he is contracted for next year, Fagan indicated he needs time to decide whether to continue or retire following the taxing decade of coaching. During a victory celebration at Brunswick St Oval, fans chanted “one more year” in support of the 65-year-old coach.

In addition to Fagan's uncertain tenure, star player Lachie Neale is expected to join Collingwood on a three-year deal. Neale, a dual Brownlow medallist, will move to the Magpies after the Lions opted not to offer him a contract for 2027. Brisbane Lions president Andrew Wellington expressed gratitude for Neale’s contributions to the club’s turnaround.
