Chris Johnson revives Ice Bucket Challenge amid ALS diagnosis

Former NFL running back Chris Johnson, who was diagnosed with ALS last year, publicly disclosed his condition on Good Morning America on June 29. He has launched a new push for the Ice Bucket Challenge on Instagram, urging friends and former teammates—including Marshawn Lynch, Len Dale White and Adam “Pacman” Jones—to participate and donate to ALS research.

Johnson also used the platform to thank his wife, Brittany, for her caregiving and support, describing her as his advocate and voice. He highlighted the broader issue that NFL players are nearly four times more likely to develop ALS than the general population and called for increased research funding from the league.

The renewed campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for ALS, echoing the 2014 viral movement that raised an estimated $135 million in the United States and $220 million worldwide.
