Christian Association of Nigeria demands rescue of Borno schoolchildren

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Borno State Chapter has issued an urgent call for the rescue of 78 abducted schoolchildren and other individuals who have been held in captivity for over 100 days.

Most Reverend John Bakeni, the state CAN Chairman, addressed the issue during a prayer session in Maiduguri held to mark the ‘CAN at 50’ anniversary. Bakeni described the milestone as a ‘sober celebration’ due to the ongoing insecurity and economic hardships facing residents. He emphasized that the frequent abductions and attacks on communities have created a ‘cloud of uncertainty’ across the state.
