Christian Council of Ghana forms committee on National Cathedral

The Christian Council of Ghana has established a technical committee to determine the future of the stalled National Cathedral project. The committee, composed of representatives from various Christian groups, is tasked with addressing the project’s primary obstacles: funding and location.

Council Chairman Rev. Enoch Nii Narh Thompson stated that the committee is expected to present its recommendations to the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs within one month. These findings will then be forwarded to President John Dramani Mahama to inform the government's final decision on the project.

The National Cathedral, intended as a non-denominational place of worship in Accra, has faced significant controversy regarding the use of public funds and its management. Additionally, the Christian Council has called for the government to expedite a commissioned forensic audit of the project and share its findings with religious leadership to facilitate further national discussion.
