Christian Eriksen collapses as Denmark‑Ukraine friendly halted

Denmark hosted Ukraine in a senior international friendly at Odense Boldklub stadium. In the 19th minute of the second half, Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen fell unconscious on the pitch. Medical personnel quickly attended, and an ambulance removed him; the referee then abandoned the match.

The Danish Football Association later confirmed that Eriksen, 34, was conscious and in stable condition. This is the second fainting episode in his career; he previously suffered a cardiac event during Euro 2021 and now plays with an implanted heart device.

The match came after a difficult run for both sides. Denmark, ranked 20th by FIFA, had drawn 0‑0 with the Democratic Republic of Congo and lost 4‑2 to Scotland in recent friendlies. Ukraine, missing the World Cup after playoff defeats, had secured recent wins over Albania and Poland. Both teams were preparing for upcoming Nations League fixtures when the game was stopped.
