Christian Eriksen collapses during Denmark‑Ukraine friendly
During the June 7, 2026 friendly between Denmark and Ukraine, midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch in the 73rd minute after clutching his chest. The match was abandoned and he was taken to hospital for examination.
The Danish Football Federation confirmed that Eriksen regained consciousness, was able to walk off the field on his own and is in stable condition. Team coach Brian Riemer said, “The most important thing is that Christian is fine, and that’s all that matters.”
Doctors noted that Eriksen’s implanted cardioverter‑defibrillator, fitted after a cardiac arrest in the Euro 2021 match against Finland, appears to be functioning correctly. He will undergo further tests to determine the cause of the latest episode. The incident revived memories of his 2021 collapse but, according to medical staff, there is no immediate danger to his life.
