Christian Eriksen collapses during Denmark-Ukraine friendly, match halted

On June 7, 2026, Denmark captain Christian Eriksen collapsed from apparent chest pain in the second half of a friendly against Ukraine at Odense Stadium. Medical personnel attended quickly; Eriksen briefly lost consciousness but soon regained awareness and was able to walk to the ambulance with help from his wife.

Referee Sigurd Smehus Kringstad stopped the game, which was later abandoned. Players formed a protective circle around Eriksen, and team doctors said his condition was good. The incident recalled Eriksen’s 2021 heart stoppage but, unlike that episode, he recovered on the field and was taken to hospital for further checks.
