Christian Eriksen collapses during Denmark-Ukraine friendly, remains conscious

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen, 34, fell unconscious in the 66th minute of a friendly match against Ukraine at Odense's Nature Energy Park. Medical staff rushed onto the pitch, the game was suspended and Eriksen was assisted off the field. He regained consciousness on his own, received treatment and was taken to Odense University Hospital for further checks. The Danish Football Federation said, “Eriksen is conscious and in good condition given the circumstances.” Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2021, now carries an implanted cardioverter‑defibrillator that monitors his heart rhythm.

The incident prompted an outpouring of support from clubs, teammates and fans worldwide while doctors continue to investigate the cause of the latest collapse.
