Christian Eriksen collapses in Denmark‑Ukraine friendly and is hospitalized
Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen suffered a collapse during the second half of a friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine. He touched his chest, lost consciousness briefly and was revived by the sub‑cutaneous pacemaker (peacemaker) implanted after his 2021 cardiac arrest at Euro 2021. Eriksen was taken to hospital, remained conscious and will undergo further examinations to determine the cause of the incident.
Former Danish international Thomas Gravesen, commenting on the episode, urged Eriksen to consider retirement, saying the player should think about his family’s wellbeing rather than continuing his career.
The incident revived memories of Eriksen’s 2021 heart episode, when he was resuscitated on the field and subsequently fitted with the device that saved his life now.
