Christian Eriksen collapses in Denmark‑Ukraine friendly, match halted

On June 7, 2026, Denmark played a friendly against Ukraine at Odense's Nature Energy Park when midfielder Christian Eriksen, 34, collapsed around the 66th minute of the second half. Medical staff intervened immediately; Eriksen was conscious, walked off the pitch, and was later taken by ambulance to Odense University Hospital for further examination. The Danish Football Federation reported that he is stable and under observation.

The incident prompted the referee to suspend the match, which was subsequently cancelled. Eriksen, a Manchester United player, carries an implantable cardioverter‑defibrillator after a cardiac arrest during Euro 2021. The doctor for the Danish side, Morten Boesen, confirmed the device functioned as intended and that Eriksen’s condition is presently good, though additional tests will follow.
