Christian Eriksen returns home after cardiac collapse in friendly match

Midfielder Christian Eriksen suffered a sudden cardiac episode during a Denmark‑Ukraine friendly in Odense on 7 June 2026. He clutched his chest, fell to the pitch, remained conscious and walked to the ambulance before being taken to hospital. Medical staff confirmed that his implanted cardio‑defibrillator (ICD) delivered a shock that stabilized him.

A day later Eriksen posted an Instagram message, saying, "I am now home with my family. The shock from my implanted defibrillator had a huge impact on me and my family, but this situation is different from 2021. I feel fine and recovery has already begun." He thanked supporters, doctors and teammates, and emphasized that his condition was improving.

The incident revived memories of his 2021 Euro collapse, but doctors continue to investigate the cause of this latest episode.
