Christodoulides and Erkurman scheduled for meeting on Cyprus issue

Cypriot President Nicos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erkurman are scheduled to meet on Thursday, September 17, at 11:00 a.m. This meeting serves as a final contact between the two leaders before the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The discussions are expected to focus on the methodology, substance, and confidence-building measures regarding the Cyprus dispute. While some progress and consensus have been noted in previous talks, disagreements and differing approaches remain on certain issues.

In parallel, negotiator Menelaos Menelaou is set to meet with Mehmet Dana, the special representative of the Turkish Cypriot leader, on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, Maria Angela Holguín, the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, has postponed her visit to the island and her travel to New York due to health reasons.
