Christopher Nolan adapts The Odyssey with Matt Damon and Elliot Page

Christopher Nolan is adapting Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey, into a cinematic feature. The production utilizes 70mm IMAX cameras to capture the scale of the mythological journey, with cinematography by Hoyte van Hoytema. Filming took place in various international locations, including Greece, Italy, Morocco, Scotland, and Iceland, to provide a sense of physical materiality to the Homeric world.

The film features a high-profile cast, including Matt Damon as Odysseus and Elliot Page as Sinon. Sinon is a Greek soldier from mythology who, according to Virgil’s Aeneid, acted as a traitor by deceiving the Trojans into bringing the wooden horse inside the city walls. Nolan has addressed casting discussions regarding Page, describing certain reactions as “irrelevant.”
