Christos Tzolis discusses nicknames at Arsenal

Greek winger Christos Tzolis has shared humorous details regarding the nicknames his Arsenal teammates have given him in the dressing room. In a video released by Sky Sports, the 24-year-old revealed that his teammates use various Greek words to tease him, including ‘tzatziki’, ‘horiatiki’, ‘Mykonos’, and ‘Santorini’.

One specific nickname, ‘Leonidas’, was earned after he finished first in a demanding 1.4-kilometer physical fitness test during pre-season, a title bestowed by a member of the technical staff. The nickname ‘tzatziki’ is a recurring theme for the player; during his time at Club Brugge, teammates used it because he reportedly does not like the traditional Greek dip, leading him to name his fantasy football team ‘FC Tzatziki’.

Tzolis joined Arsenal this summer from Club Brugge in a deal worth £34 million and has quickly become a fan favorite due to his frequent assists.
