Christy Carlson Romano details child stardom in upcoming memoir

Actress Christy Carlson Romano is sharing candid details about her experiences as a child star in her upcoming memoir, ‘Once Upon a Trainwreck’, scheduled for release on October 6.

Romano recounts unsettling early career moments, including a commercial audition at age six where she was asked if she would be comfortable being filmed from behind without a shirt. She also describes the rigid media training provided by Disney Channel executives during the filming of ‘Even Stevens’, which included strict codes of conduct regarding what performers could and could not say to the press.

In addition to her professional reflections, Romano discusses her complex relationship with her mother, Sharon Romano, and notes that while she worked alongside Shia LaBeouf on ‘Even Stevens’, the two did not maintain a close personal friendship off-screen. Romano has become a vocal advocate for increased legal and mental health protections for minors working in the entertainment industry.
