Chubut Governor confirms decoupling of provincial elections

Chubut Governor Ignacio Torres has confirmed that the province will decouple its provincial elections from the national election schedule. While a specific date has not yet been established, the administration intends to hold elections for governor and municipal authorities on the same day.

Torres made the announcement during an event hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Argentina (AmCham). Chubut joins several other Argentine provinces that have expressed the intention to separate provincial voting from national contests. Other provinces currently considering or planning to decouple include Tucumán, Salta, Misiones, Jujuy, Neuquén, Santa Fe, Mendoza, Tierra del Fuego, and Río Negro.
