Chubut Governor Torres launches federal fisheries agenda with Mar del Plata
Governor Ignacio "Nacho" Torres of Argentina’s Chubut province met with the mayors of Rawson and General Pueyrredón (Mar del Plata) during the Federal Fisheries Council to set a joint cooperation plan. The agenda aims to boost the province’s fishing industry, increase value‑added processing of marine resources and revive the Comodoro Rivadavia shipyard as a new hub for repair and construction in Patagonia.
Torres emphasized that the shipyard’s reopening will expand production capacity, attract investment and create jobs, while positioning Rawson and Mar del Plata as collaborative partners rather than rivals. The plan seeks clearer rules and tools to improve competitiveness across the regional fisheries supply chain.
