Chubut province evaluates NIDO Index to target early‑childhood inequalities

The Ministry of Human Development of Argentina’s Chubut province, led by Minister Florencia Papaiani, held a meeting with the Fundación Bunge y Born to assess the possible rollout of the NIDO Index. The index, created by the foundation’s digital public‑goods lab Fractal, measures four dimensions of early‑childhood development – socioeconomic context, health‑service access, early education and proximity to green spaces – for children up to five years old.

If adopted, the tool would generate territorial diagnostics that pinpoint gaps in child development outcomes, allowing the provincial government to direct resources more precisely. Officials discussed linking the index with existing provincial programmes such as Chubut Crece, the Municipality United for Children and Adolescents (MUNA) initiative, the Unique Nominal Registry (RUN) and other inter‑ministerial actions. Both sides agreed to continue a technical exchange of data and expertise to evaluate implementation.
