Chukwuma Soludo defends relationship with Peter Obi
Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has described former governor Peter Obi as his ‘friend and brother,’ asserting that their families maintain close ties despite significant political disagreements. Soludo stated that their differences are confined to political ideology and strategy rather than personal animosity.
This conciliatory tone follows recent political friction. In early October, the Anambra State Government’s official social media account issued a ‘betrayal alert,’ accusing Obi of working to undermine the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Additionally, Soludo has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, contrasting his support for the President with his criticisms of Obi’s impact on the Igbo people.
Public reaction to Soludo’s comments has been mixed. While some acknowledge the personal connection, others on social media have expressed skepticism, citing previous disagreements regarding the specific nature of their families' religious ties and the ongoing political contest between the two leaders.
