Church of Greece honors Metropolitan Ambrose for 50 years of service
The Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece has decided to award the Golden Cross with Star of the Insignia of Apostle Paul to Metropolitan Ambrose, the former Metropolitan of Kalavryta and Aigialeia. This high honor is being bestowed in recognition of his fifty years of episcopal service.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 6, 2026, during the first session of the Holy Synod of the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece. The decision was made during the Synod's meetings held on August 25 and 26, 2026, under the presidency of Archbishop Hieronymos of Athens and All Greece.
Metropolitan Hieronymos of Kalavryta and Aigialeia expressed deep gratitude and emotion regarding the decision, noting that the distinction honors the spiritual and pastoral legacy of his predecessor. The local Metropolis stated that the award is a source of pride for the entire local church and its faithful.
