Cimanggis Market explosion leaves six hospitalized in South Tangerang

Six victims of the Cimanggis Market explosion in Ciputat, South Tangerang, remain hospitalized following the incident on October 14, 2026. Some victims are undergoing surgery for serious injuries, including severe burns and head trauma.

Victims are receiving care at various facilities, including RS Sari Asih Ciputat, RS Fatmawati, RSCM, and RS Tarakan. One victim, Andri, was transferred to RS Tarakan for burn surgery, while another, Mudiyawati, remains in the ICU at RS Sari Asih Ciputat. Investigations revealed that the explosion involved a 52-kilogram ethylene gas cylinder and a distribution hose used for a banana ripening room.

The explosion resulted in two fatalities, including a family in Pamulang who were struck by a box truck pushed by the blast's force. Local officials, including South Tangerang Mayor Piar Saga Ichsan and Deputy Speaker of the Regional House of Representatives Maria Teresa Suhardja, have visited the victims and their families to provide moral support and ensure medical expenses are covered by the local government.
