CineFest Miskolci Nemzetközi Filmfesztivál announces 22nd edition award winners
The 22nd CineFest Miskolci Nemzetközi Filmfesztivál has concluded, awarding prizes to several international and domestic productions. The festival’s top honor, the Pressburger Imre Award, was awarded to Sarah Arnold’s debut feature, ‘Too Many Beasts’ (L’espèce explosive), a French film noted for its unique take on the crime genre and its exploration of class and corruption.
Gábor Reisz received the Zukor Adolf Award, the festival’s Grand Prize, for his film ‘Ground Level’ (Földszint), described by the jury as a satire regarding the political situation in Hungary. The German crime story ‘Prosecution’ (Staatsschutz) also received two recognitions, including honors from the FIPRESCI and International Ecumenical juries.
Other notable winners include the V4+ award for the Bulgarian film ‘The Dreamed Adventure’ (Das geträumte Abenteuer), the Fantasma award for the French film ‘The Electric Kiss’ (La Vénus électrique), and the CineDocs award for the Spanish documentary ‘The Silence of the Earth’ (El Silencio de la Tierra).
Festival director Tibor Bíró reported a record-breaking year with 156 screenings across five venues, attracting over 12,000 ticket holders following the addition of a new 300-seat screening hall.
