Cinemato Film Festival in Cuiabá Highlights Thriller and Student Shorts on July 4
The 23rd Festival de Cinema e Vídeo de Cuiabá – Cinemato took place on Saturday, 4 July, with free public screenings at the UFMT theatre. The competitive program featured the thriller “Cinco Tipos de Medo,” written and directed by Bruno Bini and starring Bella Campos, João Victor Silva, Xamã, Rui Ricardo Diaz and Bárbara Colen. The film, shot in Cuiabá, has won four Kikitos at the 2025 Gramado Festival and is competing for the Grande Otelo awards in the categories of Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing. International promotion will be handled by Ashé, the production company of actress Viola Davis.
In a separate “Sessão Universitária,” two short films created by UFMT students were shown at 17:00. The workshop, led by actor‑producer Thyago Mourão and professor Cláudia Moreira, focused on domestic violence and femicide. The resulting shorts, “Ele cuida de mim” (4 min 30 sec) and “Live” (5 min 15 sec), were presented free of charge as part of the festival’s broader program, which also included other competitive and debut screenings.
