Resident Evil: Noche Cero film premieres with new protagonist

The new Resident Evil film, titled ‘Resident Evil: Noche Cero’, directed by Zach Cregger, has premiered in cinemas, receiving significant critical attention for its departure from franchise norms. Unlike previous adaptations, the film introduces an original protagonist, Bryan (played by Austin Abrams), a medical courier who becomes trapped in Raccoon City during a viral outbreak.

Critics have praised the film for its ability to replicate the survival horror atmosphere of the Capcom video games, specifically noting its use of limited resources and claustrophobic environments. The production has earned high marks on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers highlighting the chemistry between horror and dark comedy.

While the film was conceived as a standalone story, director Zach Cregger has indicated that he has ideas for a potential sequel should the film's box office performance warrant it. The movie currently lacks a post-credits scene.
