CIPESS approves €139 million for Salerno sports infrastructure

The Interministerial Committee for Economic Programming and Sustainable Development (CIPESS) has approved a modification to the cohesion agreement between the Italian National Government and the Campania Region. This decision facilitates €139 million in funding specifically designated for the restructuring of the Arechi Stadium and the construction of the new Campo Volpe in Salerno.

These sports infrastructure projects are part of a larger €289 million investment package that includes €150 million for the renovation of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples. The funding shift is necessary because previous resources from the European Regional Development Fund (FESR) could not be utilized for these specific works. The goal is to complete the Salerno projects within three years to ensure the city is prepared for upcoming football events.

In addition to the Campania regional updates, CIPESS also addressed infrastructure and cohesion policies in other areas, including a program contract for the Turin Airport (SAGAT) and adjustments to operational programs for the Sicily Region.
