Ciputat students face investigation over bullying incident
Thirteen female students at SMPN 10 Ciputat in South Tangerang were reportedly victims of a bullying incident involving senior students. According to Ciputat Timur Police Chief Kompol Bambang Askar Sodiq, the perpetrators allegedly forced juniors to participate in challenges. If the victims lost these challenges, they were compelled to consume an extreme mixture of coffee, vinegar, and garlic.
At least three students required hospitalization due to severe abdominal pain resulting from the consumption of these substances. The incident reportedly took place at a food stall outside the school grounds, away from teacher supervision.
South Tangerang Deputy Mayor Pilar Saga Ichsan stated that the local government is coordinating with the police and the Education and Culture Office to investigate the matter. While sanctions—ranging from light to heavy—will be determined based on the findings of the investigation, officials emphasized the need for both student accountability and victim protection. Ahmad Sahroni, Vice Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, also called for strict legal consequences for the physical coercion involved.
