Circle and Mastercard drive blockchain integration in finance

The blockchain industry is seeing increased integration into traditional financial services. Circle has launched XAUm, a tokenized gold asset on the Arc blockchain, where each token represents one ounce of physically backed gold. While available across eight networks, liquidity and the time required for physical redemption remain key considerations.

Mastercard is implementing blockchain-based settlement for a SoFi card program, expected to reach an annual volume exceeding $25 billion. The process utilizes the regulated stablecoin SoFiUSD, allowing the settlement to occur behind the scenes without altering the experience for merchants or cardholders.

In the cryptocurrency markets, NEAR Protocol is seeing growth through its Intents system, which facilitates cross-chain trading and processes approximately $1.3 billion weekly. Cardano has also shown signs of recovery, rising significantly from its June lows, supported by protocol upgrades and improved interoperability.
