Circle mints 250M USDC amid broader net outflows of stablecoins
Circle, the issuer of the USD‑Coin (USDC) stablecoin, created an additional 250 million USDC on the Solana blockchain. The mint follows the company's routine treasury operations that add tokens to circulating supply to meet redemption, settlement or trading demand. The new tokens may remain in Circle’s wallets or be transferred to institutional counterparties, and the mint alone does not confirm immediate market impact.
During the same 30‑day period, USDC redemptions reached $27.6 billion while new issuance was $26.0 billion, resulting in a net outflow of $1.6 billion. This reduced the circulating supply to roughly $73.1 billion, with Circle’s reserves standing at $73.4 billion, maintaining the 1:1 backing required by the U.S. GENIUS Act. The tightening of stablecoin inflows is interpreted as a shift in demand rather than a solvency issue, and analysts monitor such supply changes as indicators of broader crypto‑market sentiment.
