Circular economy initiatives expand in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, various initiatives are promoting circularity and reuse. The thrift store Timulazu in Heino will continue operations under the management of Dorcas. Dorcas, which operates 46 thrift stores in the Netherlands supported by approximately 4,000 volunteers, is currently seeking new volunteers to support its Heino location. Proceeds from Dorcas stores fund projects in thirteen countries across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Separately, the Circulair Warenhuis has introduced a rental service for reusable lanyards aimed at making events more sustainable. Following a successful trial at Leiden Meets Circulair 2026, the service allows companies, governments, and event organizers to rent lanyards rather than purchasing single-use versions that often end up as waste. The service offers rentals in multiples of 25, starting from 100 units, to help organizations implement practical circularity.
