Italy transportation services face strikes and regional updates
Italy faces significant transportation disruptions due to a national railway strike scheduled from the evening of September 7 through September 8, 2026. The mobilization involves multiple entities, including the FS Group, Trenitalia, Trenitalia Tper, Trenord, and RFI, with potential impacts on Italo services. Workers are protesting over wages, shifts, workload, and safety. Essential services for regional trains are guaranteed during the morning (6:00–9:00) and evening (18:00–21:00) windows.
In addition to the rail strike, various regional transport updates are occurring. In Rome, ATAC is restoring tram lines and Metro A services following summer maintenance. In Enna, new electric school bus services are launching, while Latina is preparing its school transport service for mid-September. In the Reggio Emilia province, SETA is concluding its mobile ticketing tour. Meanwhile, in the Besanino area, the S7 suburban line will face a year-long interruption between Villasanta and Triuggio due to construction work, prompting local calls for increased bus and train frequency.
