Circumvesuviana commuters protest unequal rail service

Commuter committees are protesting against Eav management, alleging a “glaring injustice” in the allocation of resources and attention across the Circumvesuviana rail network.

Protesters claim the service operates at two different speeds. While the Naples-Sorrento line receives significant investment and interventions to reduce travel times, inland lines—including those serving Baiano, Sarno, Poggiomarino, and San Giorgio—suffer from constant delays and inadequate service.

Specifically, commuters are demanding urgent action on the Baiano line, which currently faces service interruptions toward Naples via San Giorgio. Committees have called for the use of night shifts and weekend work to accelerate construction and repairs, noting that such operational windows are already being utilized on the Sorrento route to minimize disruption.
