Italian railway service disruptions

Overview

In late July 2026, Italian transport authorities announced two separate temporary railway interruptions. First, Trenord detailed a planned upgrade at the Seveso railway node, doubling the track to boost capacity. The S4 line between Seveso and Camnago will be suspended from 3 to 23 August, with hourly replacement buses operating from the town hall to Camnago station.

Later the same day, the Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV) reported a rockfall on the Amalfi Coast that forced the closure of State road 163 and a night‑time suspension of Circumvesuviana trains between Vico Equense and Sorrento on 4–5 August. After safety works and rock‑stabilisation, normal two‑way traffic resumed, and replacement bus services will run between 22:30 and 06:10, with adjusted train departures.

Both incidents illustrate how regional infrastructure projects and natural events are prompting short‑term rail service suspensions across Italy, with bus replacements provided to maintain passenger mobility.
