Cirebon's Sekolah Rakyat enrolls 270 students; temporary PPPK teachers appointed
The Cirebon regency's social services department completed outreach to 270 prospective students for the 2026‑27 academic year of the newly built Sekolah Rakyat. The enrollment, divided equally among elementary, junior high and senior high levels, targets children from families classified in the lowest two socio‑economic deciles based on the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN). The school building is slated to become operational in July 2026, and the regency will also accept transferred students from neighboring districts.
Because the central government has not yet assigned permanent teachers, the Cirebon administration will temporarily staff the school with five local civil‑service contract (PPPK) teachers for the elementary level. The regency's secretary, Hendra Nirmala, said, "We are preparing temporary teachers so that teaching can start as soon as the students move into the dormitories," scheduled for 11‑13 July 2026.
These measures aim to ensure that learning begins on schedule while awaiting the placement of permanent teachers from the central authority.
