CISF announces structural reorganization and welfare benefits

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is implementing a functional reorganization of its administrative and operational structure starting November 1, 2026. Approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the restructuring replaces territorial supervision with sector-specific arrangements to enhance security management for critical infrastructure, including power, coal, steel, petroleum, ports, and mass rapid transit systems.

Under the new arrangement, various existing sectors will be redesignated. For example, the North and North Eastern sectors will become Power-I and Power-II sectors, while sectors in Bihar will transition to Coal and Steel sectors. The Western and South sectors will become the West Coast and East Coast Port sectors, respectively. This shift aims to standardize security practices and develop specialized expertise.

Separately, the CISF and State Bank of India (SBI) held a ceremony to facilitate financial assistance for the families of four personnel who died in the line of duty on September 29, 2026. Each family is set to receive approximately ₹1.6 crore in total, comprising personal accident insurance, group term life insurance, risk funds, funeral expenses, and ex-gratia assistance from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
