Citroën announces electric 2CV revival priced under €15,000 for 2026 launch

Citroën, part of Stellantis, is developing an all‑electric version of its historic 2CV. The company plans to unveil the model in Paris in 2026, with series production slated for the late 2020s. The new 2CV will be built on the group’s eCar platform, target a price below €15,000 and be manufactured in Europe – early reports suggest assembly at Stellantis’ Pomigliano d’Arco plant in Italy.

CEO Xavier Chardon emphasized that the vehicle will stay true to the original’s democratic mobility ethos while avoiding excessive technology. He said the car will “not be over‑engineered” and will focus on simple, useful features rather than a plethora of screens. The model is intended for everyday users such as healthcare workers and aims to compete with low‑cost electric city cars like the Dacia Spring and Renault’s forthcoming offerings.
