Renault EV strategy shifts to FutuReady and technical refres

Overview

Renault is transitioning from its Renaulution plan to a new strategic phase under the ‘FutuReady’ program. As part of this shift, the company’s Palencia plant in Spain is scheduled to convert to electric vehicle production in 2028, utilizing the new RGEV Medium 2.0 platform for models such as the electric Rafale and Scenic.

In the commercial sector, Renault plans to present its strategy at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, focusing on the new Trafic Van E-Tech and specialized conversion solutions through its Renault Pro+ division.

The Scenic E-Tech electric crossover has also received significant technical updates. The model now features two battery architectures: a Long Range version with an 89 kWh NMC battery offering up to 642 km of WLTP range, and a more affordable Comfort Range version using a 67 kWh LFP battery with a 467 km WLTP range. Charging speeds have been improved, with the LFP version capable of a 15% to 80% DC charge in 24 minutes.

Technological advancements for the Scenic include the integration of Google Gemini AI into the openR link infotainment system, enhanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for lane positioning and fatigue monitoring, and interior updates utilizing higher percentages of recycled PET fabrics.
