Citroën launches electric 2CV to revive affordable small‑car mobility

Citroën announced it will revive the iconic 2 CV as a fully electric, low‑cost city car. The model is part of Stellantis’ Fastlane 2030 plan to create a new generation of small, accessible EVs for European urban use. Production will take place at Stellantis’ Pomigliano d’Arco plant in Italy alongside other group models, such as the Fiat e‑Car line.

CEO Xavier Chardon said the new 2 CV will embody the original’s simplicity, lightness and versatility while meeting today’s urban mobility regulations. Details are expected at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026, with the vehicle slated for market entry in 2028. Citroën aims to offer an "electric, essential and popular" vehicle that broadens freedom of movement for a new generation of customers.
