Citroën to launch affordable electric 2CV aimed at young urban drivers
Citroën, under Stellantis' FaSTLANE 2030 plan, announced a new electric model that revives the spirit of the historic 2 CV. The vehicle will be simple, low‑cost and designed for city use, targeting younger buyers who find new‑car ownership difficult.
The car will be built entirely in Europe on a shared platform with Fiat, with about 70 % of components sourced locally. It will be under 4.20 m long, limited to a top speed of around 130 km/h and priced competitively to compete with low‑cost Chinese EVs. Details will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026.
Citroën’s strategy emphasises accessibility, compact dimensions and electric mobility, positioning the new 2 CV as a modern, affordable city‑car rather than a nostalgic replica.
