Citroën to launch electric 2CV city car by 2028 with price under €15,000

Stellantis announced at its Investor Day in Michigan that Citroën will revive the iconic 2CV as a fully electric city car scheduled for release in 2028. CEO Xavier Chardon presented the FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, revealing that the new model will be built in the historic Pomigliano d'Arco plant in Italy and will share its technical architecture with the forthcoming Fiat Pandina platform. The company aims to price the vehicle below €15,000, positioning it as an affordable zero‑emission option for European drivers. A concept version is slated for public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026, featuring a minimalist design that omits unnecessary digital screens. The launch is part of Citroën’s broader product offensive targeting the retro‑nostalgia segment, a strategy that has produced mixed results for other manufacturers, as noted by industry commentary on past retro‑styled models that struggled commercially.
