City Council modifies water and sewage service transfer to ASSA

The Finance Commission of the City Council has issued a favorable report with modifications regarding the project to transfer water and sewage services to Aguas Santafesinas (ASSA).

The modified text, signed by Giselle Miravete and Alejandra Chena, grants the Executive branch authority to negotiate with the Province, ASSA, and relevant agencies. However, it introduces stricter oversight mechanisms. The Council will now require prior intervention and subsequent approval for any instruments involving new economic or financial obligations, the disposal of municipal assets, or changes to the status of personnel involved in the service.

This modification addresses concerns raised by the ASTEOM union, which sought legislative control over any changes affecting the working conditions or positions of the more than 80 employees currently linked to the water and sewage services. The report has been forwarded to the Government Commission for further review before its scheduled treatment on Tuesday the 13th.
