City Foods, Inc. recalls 3,215 pounds of beef due to Listeria risk

City Foods, Inc., a food producer based in Chicago, is recalling 3,215 pounds of ready-to-eat smoked and corned beef due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall was announced by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) following routine inspections.

The recall affects three specific brands produced on July 16, 2026, with a 60-day shelf life: - Midamar Premium Beef Smoked Beef (10 lb boxes, Lot 19410) - Bea's Best Cooked Corned Beef Brisket (20-30 lb boxes, Lot 18919) - Kirsch Deli Style Cooked Corned Beef Brisket (20-30 lb boxes, Lot 19751)

These products were initially distributed to food service locations in Illinois, Iowa, and Michigan, but may have been distributed to other regions across the United States.

While no confirmed illnesses or infections have been reported, the FSIS warns that Listeria can cause listeriosis, which poses a high risk to the elderly, pregnant women, infants, and those with weakened immune systems. Consumers are advised not to eat the products and to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
