City of Langford and local First Nations sign collaboration agreement

The City of Langford, Tsartlip First Nation, and Tseycum First Nation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen their relationship and establish a framework for ongoing collaboration. The agreement, signed on September 22, formalizes a commitment to shared long-term goals and includes annual government-to-government meetings between elected leaders, as well as quarterly staff-level meetings.

A shared work plan will be developed to guide joint initiatives and track progress in several key areas, including economic development, tourism, arts and culture, environmental stewardship, and advocacy.

Tsartlip Chief Curtis Olsen noted that the agreement is an important step toward building a new relationship that creates positive change for current and future generations. Langford Mayor Scott Goodmanson emphasized that the partnership is part of an ongoing responsibility toward reconciliation, built on listening, learning, and trust.
