Ciudad Juárez announces pet vaccination and sterilization campaigns

Authorities in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, have announced several health and welfare initiatives for pets. The Chihuahua State Government is organizing a mass rabies vaccination campaign for dogs and cats to prevent disease spread and protect public health.

Vaccination sites include the Escuela Primaria Federal Constitución Mexicana, Primaria Patria 1, and the DIF Community Center in the Terranova neighborhood. Additionally, veterinary services will be available at the Centro Familiar Gaspro as part of the “Cuenta Conmigo” Health Fair. Pets must be healthy, not undergoing medical treatment, and female pets that are pregnant will not receive the dose.

Separately, the Dirección de Atención y Bienestar Animal (DABA) is conducting a free sterilization campaign in the southeastern sector of the city. The event will take place at the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) community center. Interested owners must register via the official DABA website and provide a CURP. Requirements for sterilization include pets being over three months old, having fasted for at least 12 hours, and being in good health without ticks. Dogs must be on leashes, and cats should be in carriers.
