Heat Wave Pushes Temperatures to 43°C Across Chihuahua, Mexico

The State Coordination of Civil Protection (CEPC) has issued a preventive alert as an intense heat wave sweeps Chihuahua state. Forecasts predict maximum temperatures of up to 43 °C in Ciudad Juárez and Ojinaga, 42 °C in Delicias, Chínipas and other municipalities, and 39 °C in the capital, Chihuahua City. Strong winds are expected, with gusts exceeding 55 km/h in several locations, and isolated to moderate rain showers are possible in the Sierra Tarahumara and select valleys.

Authorities warn of heat‑related health risks such as heat‑stroke and dehydration, especially for children, older adults and people with chronic illnesses. The public is advised to stay hydrated with water, avoid prolonged sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., wear light clothing, use sunscreen of at least SPF 30, and keep windows and doors closed during peak heat.
