Ciudad Juárez endures extreme heat and a powerful thunderstorm

From July 9 through July 12, Ciudad Juárez recorded temperatures between 38 °C and 40 °C, with forecasts of up to 39 °C on Friday and 40 °C on Saturday. Municipal Protection Civil and other local authorities issued heat alerts, urging residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., wear light clothing, and use publicly available cooling centers. Special precautions were stressed for children, older adults and people with chronic health conditions.

In the early hours of July 10, a strong thunderstorm produced a loud thunderclap around 02:00 a.m. that shook homes and was captured on a neighborhood security camera. The phenomenon was attributed to the storm’s electrical activity; no injuries were reported, but the event heightened public concern about safety during extreme weather.
